Serial prescribing
Some patients may be suitable for serial repeat prescribing, if their prescriptions are stable. If this occurs - please read the information below.
IMPORTANT CHANGES TO YOUR PRESCRIPTION
Your GP has changed the way they issue your prescription.
What does this mean for you?
• You will no longer need to order your regular medicines from your GP practice.
• The prescription you have been given lasts for 56 weeks.
• Your pharmacy will hold the prescription and issue you with a supply every 8 weeks.
• To ensure continuity of this service it is essential that you attend for review or monitoring with the GP Practice team when requested.
Your pharmacy will explain the service in more detail. If you have any questions about this, or your medicines in general, please ask your Pharmacist.
Having this type of prescription does not stop you making an appointment with your GP in the usual way. This service is optional, if you wish to opt out of this please inform your Pharmacy.
You will now not need to ask the GP practice for your repeat prescription, just contact your pharmacy when you need your next supply and ask for your serial prescription.'
